Adria Kain, Toronto-based R&B singer-songwriter
How does visual art inspire you?
I think what inspires me about visual art is the endless amount of stories that can be told through so many different images. Being a musical artist, it's also inspiring to be able to hear sounds that can play as a soundtrack to these stories as well. Having the ability to see and explore different visual perspectives overall is an extremely beautiful thing to me.
Where do you go to get inspiration?
Most of my inspiration comes from emotional & life experiences. Whenever I FEEL anything, that's usually when the creative part of my brain comes to life.
How does visual art impact your decision on album covers?
I love the idea of having someone look at an image that holds a body of musical work, and leaving it up to them to tell me how it made them feel based on what they are seeing. Mixing both photography, graphics and sometimes textures is my favorite thing to do because I feel like it brings the brain to life in a way that we don't necessarily use often.
In three words, how would you describe your selected art choices?
Bold, Relatable & Minimalistic
You have an upcoming album that is being released in 2022. Tell us about that.
I do! Honestly, it's been such a long time coming, I'm just excited for it to be released, heard and hopefully felt. I don't really have much more I want to say about it other than January 28th will be a beautiful day. ❃
